in my opinion it's not just the actor who plays the character as much as the writer who creates the character. i was thinking (for example) of andrew scott (who is gay) playing the hot priest in fleabag, which is an amazing story beautifully written by a straight woman, and if i think about the opposite situation, where a straight actor plays a gay character written by a gay writer, often makes for a great story. the problem arrives when a straight writer thinks they can write whatever and ends up creating the worst queer story ever, be it played by a straight or gay actor (i don't think it's the main issue there)

listen, i'm not a prude, i do love heartbreak high and it's chaos, but as a teenager i think something that needs to be addressed is how this show has too many moments of young characters using drugs and being sexualized which did not get better in season 2. i know it's basically what every teen tv does nowadays, but it was kind of my pet peeve with this show because it felt like the writers were a little too obsessed with making teenagers talk about and have sex ALL THE DAMN TIME. i get the concept of the slts class and that the actors are not underage. i just don't get the point of the underaged CHARACTERS talking about it and doing it to the point where i felt like i was watching euphoria because of how uncomfortable i was. it kinda made me wonder what were the writers' morals because i get that teens have hormones, but this just felt unnecessary. and don't get me started on the underage drinking and usage of drugs. apparently the average tv show that represents gen z NEEDS to have these teen characters going to parties and drinking. like... even if it irritates me unfortunately i guess i'm used to it atp. what i'm NOT used to is romaticizing drugs by showing very dreamy and over the top hallucinations like they did in season 2. i get it when they do it in euphoria because in euphoria it shows the romanticized part of doing drugs, but it also shows how drugs can literally ruin your life and the lives of everyone around u. this did not happen in heartbreak high. just straight up fantasies. i might hate how sexualized euphoria is, but i can acknowledge its positive traits (fuck sam levinson tho). this is not me saying heartbreak high is a bad show, this is me saying if u wanna show so many sex scenes, make ur characters go to college, not FUCKING HIGH SCHOOL. and if u wanna showcase them doing drugs, try REALISTICALLY showcasing what they could do. it just makes me feel misrepresented as someone from gen z because i don't do all this stuff and don't take it seriously when people say shows like this represent us so well.

Only one struggled when it came to reading and writing (my 8 year old sister) my two younger brothers who are 7 and 4 can read perfectly

Personally, this wouldn’t be an issue if a gay actor could go mainstream in the film industry without scrutiny. It is happening now with Jonathan Bailey, but again there are still a lot of openly gay actors that are only popular in indie films. I want to see an openly gay actor, especially queer POCs, on action movies, romcoms, horror etc. Being gay should not be a problem with getting roles. Also, there should be a bigger discussion with having white gay men stories only being told, when there are millions of queer stories all over the world to be told.
